Sit there with your baby

The best way to bond with your baby needs nothing except peace, quiet, and a pillow. Cuddle with a baby. Like the kangaroo care.

In a nutshell, it’s skin to skin contact with your baby: strip him down to a diaper, unbutton your blouse, and hold him against your bare chest, just the way a kangaroo carries its child.

Specialists recommend at least two to three hours of kangaroo care a day, citing research that it stabilizes your baby’s heartbeat, temperature and breathing. It helps your baby gain weight.

Your baby is still struggling with newborn issues, fussy, restless, easily startled, and overwhelmed. From a dark, quiet womb he’s been thrust into a big, bright, noisy and unfamiliar world. Your voice, and your warm skin, is his sanctuary.
