What Can I Do To Escape Tax Debt?
Dealing with the Internal Revenue Service is never a pleasant experience. It probably reminds you of when you used to run around the playground during school only to be stopped by an angry teacher. Back then, that angry teacher couldn’t be paid off—you were in trouble one way or another. The good news is that the IRS can be paid off. In fact, all the irs tax debt wants is money: their fair share of your great or small fortune.
Is there anything that can be done about tax debt? What if you owe thousands or even over $10,000 dollars in tax debt relief? Don’t panic; there are options that you can look into. Sometimes you can qualify for an installment agreement or even an Offer In Compromise (OIC). An OIC refers to a negotiation between the IRS, where you give your side of the story and then make a compromise (in a lump sum or monthly installment), awaiting the IRS’ decision. There is also an option for a partial payment installment agreement where you have a longer period of time to pay off a large debt. However, these are just options that will help you delay payment.
What can actually help you get out of debt, and completely pay off your IRS bill as soon as possible? If you owe less than $10,000 but cannot immediately pay, you can work out an installment agreement or perhaps get an extension on your due date. If you owe the IRS more money than $10,000 then the best option to pursue is to hire a tax professional who can guide you through the complicated process of squaring things away with Uncle Sam.
Now how do you go about getting out of debt that you are already paying on? You could try filing for bankruptcy, though you will need a lawyer’s help to do this. Additionally, an OIC is usually more complicated than an installment agreement, while an installment agreement is much more expensive than paying off a balance in full. This has led many consumers to borrow money in order to pay off their taxes and then pay interest to the new lending company, which has lower interest rates.
All in all, you have to start budgeting so that you can pay off the debt over a matter of time. Some individuals have to take on an extra job. However, others find that they can set aside a certain amount of money that goes straight to the IRS via debit system or through a check. You are never out of options so as long as you are willing to pay on the debt you lawfully owe. Get checks unlimited and control your expenses.
